The Annual Fun Run goes Virtual and Adds some Fun! As the summer progressed and the pandemic lingered, it became necessary to follow the lead of many others and make the annual Fun Run a virtual event. A knowledgeable team was assembled to ensure success. A registration website was identified, a date was decided upon, and categories of entries were determined. Because the event was virtual, it was held over an entire week, October 24-31. To add a new twist and some fun, a Halloween Costume Contest for pets and their people was added. So began the PAWS VIRTUAL 5K FUN RUN, WALK & WAG, and COSTUME CONTEST for 2020. Marketing was done through email blasts, social media, runner websites, the PAWS website, the Wakefield Patch, local town kiosks and digital billboards, and the Boston Globe Informer Calendar. Photos for the Costume Contest were posted on FaceBook and voted on via "likes." Entrants signed up to run or walk for a nominal entry fee. Those who preferred to catnap were able to make a donation to support the cause. As in the past, many businesses in the community were asked to sponsor our event. This year they did not disappoint with a total of ten sponsors making a significant contribution. We encourage you to support these businesses as they are a vital part of our community.
