Kida Moore
Kida Moore

July 2009 - Nakita (aka Kida Moore) finds the simple pleasures in life with her new family

Kida, renamed Nakita, by her adoring family has found great happiness in her new home. Although she has been given lovely gifts like a new bed, Nakita still finds time and joy in sitting on a grocery bag. Her family writes, "She came from a house that must have fed her from the table. She has taken up looking at us at dinner and even will paw us if she smells something good! We don’t feed her at the table but it never hurts to ask! She is a lot more outgoing ... She does like to sit close to us but still out of reach to pat her! Kita plays with the ring that comes off milk containers, her plastic grocery bag, elastics I pitch near her, and eyes the fish tank!W e are enjoying her and we know she is enjoying us!

April 2009: Diego makes a Purrfect Match!

A very happy adopter writes: "My mother adopted Diego about a month ago. She lives in a Sr. Living facility on Revere Beach. They live in a studio apartment, but he gets his exercise by running up and down the halls. She is the building librarian, so he hangs around the library with her and meets-and-greets everyone who comes in. Diego has become the building mascot. He visits the neighbors and they keep treats for him. He sits on the balcony overlooking the ocean. He hated the halter so we just use a leash with the collar, but he doesn’t fight it. Who’s got it better than Diego? He’s a happy cat (although he thinks he’s a dog) and she’s a happy Mom." Thank you.

April 2009: Frisky's Life Has Sunshine Once Again

Frisky came to PAWS depressed and sad at the passing of his loving owner. He was only with us a few short weeks before he got adopted! A nice note from his new family lets us know that Frisky has found the embrace of a loving, caring family who has nurtured him and his broken heart....

"Wow, I can't believe it has only been two and a half weeks since we adopted Frisky! Somehow, it seems like he has been here much longer. He has definitely settled in as part of the family. He has the sun room that he is very comfortable in. Whenever he is in that room, he will come out to play and to be loved. Frisky has bonded the most with Anna. She has spent a lot of time out in Frisky's room brushing him and loving him. It is sweet to watch the two of them. We haven't heard Frisky say anything yet. I don't think he knows how to meow. He did growl at me when I clipped his nails (who can blame him), but never any other noise. If he wants our attention, he will tap on your leg. It is very cute! He has been getting plenty of exercise playing ball and string. He actually can be frisky sometimes!

March 2009: "And Kitty Makes Three"

Johnny Wade, now named Jack, was a stray rescued by PAWS. He was quickly adopted into a family with other cats.... "Jack is adjusting so well, I just cannot believe it. He talked, talked, talked, in the beginning but while he is a chatterbox he has lessened that a bit. (Rachel probably told him to put a sock in it) He and Rachel are great playmates, and he is learning some important social skills, such as-- it is not polite to attack while she is sleeping... The next morning, he decided quite firmly it was time to explore. He zoomed down the stairs much to Rachel and Jenny's dismay and ran up to Rachel to say HI, HOW ARE YOU??!!! He learned that perhaps it was best not to actually run at them to introduce himself. The hisses and meows have not been bad at all, and even last Thursday I was shocked at how well things were going. He tentatively got up on the bed the second night, and now when I wake up I have between one and three cats on the bed. Jenny, who is painfully shy, is curious about this strange critter and has gone from not being able to stand him to feeling he isn't too bad, but a little bit of a pest. Jack is at that young stage where he swipes his paw under the door or in the door jamb and he and Jenny have gone a few rounds with that game. She truly does not play, but would show up whenever Rachel hissed or meowed in the begining to come (unnecessarily) to Rachel's aid...I definitely rank second to Rachel. I know he will fill out as cats do in their second year, but right now I feel I have a cross between a lion and a poodle. ... I just love him (as do those who have met him) and think he is a wonderful addition!
