Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

PAWS does not operate a shelter facility but rather relies on a foster parent network of caring individuals who shelter the homeless animals.

Visits are easily arranged between a potential adopter and a foster parent so that the adopter can meet the animal in a quiet, loving setting.

In many ways this is a far more efficient way to understand and greet your potential new pet.  The animal does not suffer cage stress and has become accustomed to a nurturing environment in which he/she has the ability to interact with other types of pets as well as roam around much as they would do in your own home.

What is the adoption process like?

There are several ways to meet your potential pet match.  You may view our adoptable pets on line on this website and then fill out an application and send it in to us. You may fill out an application without having a definite prospective pet in mind and we will be happy to match your pet criteria to the animals we do have.  You can attend one or more of our adoption days and meet the animals face to face.

Once an application has been submitted, it is reviewed by a PAWS volunteer.  The volunteer will call you and go through your information as well as describe potential matches.  If you have an interest a visit is arranged.  You will have plenty of time to meet the animal and interact with it at either an adoption day or on a pre-arranged visit with the animal's foster parent.

I am looking for a specific breed, color, personality... What do I do?

While many of our animals are mixed breeds, we do get pure breeds from time to time.  We can also refer you to a rescue network that deals in your specific breed if we cannot meet your criteria.

We try to make a good match between you and your pet and listen to what is important to you.  We do our best to match personality, color, and other preferences.
